Project Miasma is currently looking for capable individuals who have previous experience working with the Half Life 2 Source Engine. A development team has already been assembled, but the project is looking to expand even more. The game itself has already been in production for almost a month. We currently use Ventrilo to communicate and discuss the production of the game amongst other things. Below is a list of jobs that are open.

Coder
Modeler
Animator
Mapper
Sound Engineer
Concept Artist

All applicants should understand that they are coming into a pre established work environment. Yes, there will be inside jokes. No, there are no new guys at the moment. Yes, some of us use puns. Yes, if you were to come on board now then you would be the new guy. Yes, we give the new guy a hard time.

If you believe you are a capable individual who has previous experience working with the Half Life 2 Source Engine and you are interested in working on this project then contact us at the e-mail address up top. Applicants should include in their e-mail a summary of their experience, why they want to work on the project, any questions they might have, and some samples of their past work if possible. Below is a brief synopsis of the game and the storyline.

Miasma takes place in a post-apocalyptic world in the aftermath of a meteor impact. Years ago a giant meteor hit Earth. The impact was catastrophic and caused widespread destruction. Billions of people were killed. Now, five years later, the world is engulfed by a poisonous cloud called miasma. Almost every living thing that is exposed to miasma is killed. Those that survive are changed. They become the Rayth. Humanity has since recovered from the cataclysm, but the Rayth have been growing bolder. Assaults on barrier cities have taken place and have been growing increasingly more frequent. Fear of what will come has gripped the population. Humanity now stands at the brink of extinction. The Rayth are rallying together. Their numbers grow with each passing day. Their cries can be heard echoing through the mist. The fate of humanity is at hand. The fight for survival has begun.

Players can choose to play as the heroic soldiers who fight to save humanity or as the dreaded Rayth who seek to destroy it.

The game itself is a multiplayer first person shooter of the action and horror genre. Game play will be a combination of suspense and fast paced action. Miasma will consist of objective based multiplayer game play. Players will have to work together to stay alive and complete their goals in order to achieve victory. To help achieve their goals players will have a vast array of weaponry at their disposal including high caliber revolvers, composite assault rifles, high powered pulse rifles, and high grade explosives. The game also features super cool vehicles. While on the Rayth side players can also utilize unreal beast abilities such as being able to run on walls, jump super high, and regenerate from mortal wounds.

We have only been in production for 3 weeks. As of right now we have two weapon models, one vehicle, and one map in actual production. Our development team is already filled out in every position except coder which we are currently interviewing 3 potential candidates. However, we still would like to have more people. The bigger the development team is the faster the work can be done without disregarding quality of course. If your interested in working or contributing to the project then contact me via the e-mail address posted above. Otherwise, thank you for your momentary interest.

Very common misconception.

Listen to the words of Yorick! Keep the team small! Also... in three weeks how do you have that many inside jokes and the need to pick on new people? Three weeks is nothing my friend.

The concept idea for this game has been in the making for the past 6 months. The majority of the people involved in the project right now are all friends. I understand it is a common misconception that more people means faster work, but that is not so for us. If everyone does their job and you have more people doing their job then there is no excuse why more work shouldn’t be getting done. I understand most independent projects take a very long time preferably because the people working on them only work in their free time. However, the people who I work with can still efficiently complete their work in their free time despite having busy schedules.

The people who are on the team at the moment are experienced and have worked on similar projects in the past. We are only looking for other people who are experienced and know how to do their work fast and good. To ensure this we have developed an assemble line type system that has never failed us in the past. However, as much as I would like to elaborate on this there is no reason for me to. As I said before if you’re interested in working on the project then please do contact us at the e-mail address posted above. Otherwise, thank you for your momentary interest. Please keep this thread clear for people who have questions relevant to working for the project.

Lay off guys. At least this guy isn't just trying to start a mod by saying he wants to build a team where he is team leader and ideas guy.

He seems professional and at least he has a few members already.

Could we perhaps see some concept art to see what level of work this mod expects and to give us a clearer idea of the concept?

Our public website will be up by late December. Stay tuned in this thread and come time of site launch I will post the link to the site here. Upon launch the site will include concept art, elaborate story content, completed models, and forums. No promises on map screenshots right away. One thing that should be understood is that we will never post WIP work for the general public. We believe its better to see something complete rather then incomplete. I can understand some people may disagree with this. However, most of us feel that we were more impressed by other mods that had complete work rather than untextured models and incomplete maps. In the mean time please bear with us as we are working very hard to meet deadlines we have set for site launch. Again, if your interested in working on the project than contact us at the e-mail address posted at the top of this thread. On a personal note thank you Reginald for the support.
