Why does everyone sing RnB songs only? There are many other great songs that are not RnB that involve alot of vocal annotation and pitch changes. Personally I find RnB songs just a "show-off" method of one's voice (like all one has to do is go high and keep annotating his voice up and down). There are many modern day artists tat sing pretty well to, such as Shayne Ward or Daniel Bedding field, not mention many great songs that are not RnB that are a great test of one's voice.

It's true, that all those judges were RnB specialists so I guess the contestants have not much of a choice.

I'd like to see them sing Gantz Graf, maybe Ventolin.

...what?

Whatever happened go that guy who sung opera?

Later on in the competition they have "theme weeks," where you have to sing a song from a genre you might not be so comfortable in. Genres like rock, the disco era, the 20s-30s era...
