Is there any way to play HL2 over multiple monitors? By that, I mean so the display will extend from one monitor to the next. I dont want to stretch it across the two (you cant anyways). Just wondering if there is some obscure command I can use. Thanks for any help.

Yeah you can but you need to have cables for you graphics card as long as it supports it. Do a search on it, Asus the mod has double monitors and posted some help to somone else about this. Sadly its not as simple as just typing 'cl_duelmonitors_please 1'

Yeah, I have the adapter to make the monitor run on my 9800. Ill try a search.

I did a search and still cant find how to get the dual monitors running in HL2. Tried widescreen, but that still limits it to one screen.

Go to ati.com and download the latest drivers with the Catalyst Control Panel. Install it and then open the ATI Catalyst Control Panel. Under Display Manager, turn on your second display by dragging the second monitor icon into the empty box. Then a screen will pop up and you should choose "Stretch Main onto Clone" or something like that. That's pretty much it.

You cannot play HL2 over dual monitors. It will only display on your primary monitor. I'm running dual monitors myself. In order for a game to do that it has to be coded or built into the game itself. Unfortunately HL2 does not support this.

Not very many games do. I know flight simulator does as well as a few others but that's it.

I'm afraid your incorrect. I haven't played with two monitors myself, but I've seen pictures of peoples setups where they clearly were playing the game on 2 screens. I actually saw pictures of this one guy who had three monitors going!

It really should all depend on the video card, as long as your video card supports stretching the picture onto the second monitor. Most second monitors are usually set up as clones and won't work.

I've played on two, set to widescreen and changed the screen ratio.

Did you need to window it and drag it in between? I'm running the 4.11 (or newest ATI driver), but without the control panel. The only option I am using is 'extend my windows destop onto secondary monitor'.

Okay well when you use Windows is it stretched onto the second screen? Are you trying to say that you have both monitors running, NOT CLONED, STRETCHED, and that when you start HL2 it just shows up on one monitor? A little more info please. And why not download the Control Panel? I love the control panel.

In Windows, it is cloned onto the second screen, but without the bottom task bar and icons. My background is duplicated.

In HL2, I have tried running widescreen at max resolution, but it only resizes my primary monitor, it doesnt extend to both.

I have used the control panel, but I liked the classic feel better. I'm downloading it right now again.

It can't be a cloned monitor. Cloned means exactly that, a clone of the first one. An exact copy. You need the desktop stretched onto the second montitor, not cloned.

Set for the other monitor to be part of your desktop (extended). Also note there is no point unless you have like 2 monitors joined completely as your crosshair is in the middle

I think it is extended. I can open a browser and place it in between both monitors. I can also have a browser open on one side, HL2 on the other. I just cant get HL2 to stretch across them both...

Just something I wanted to try out, see what it was like.

Its only good for screenshots tbh. But seriously, set to widescreen and change the screen ratio select a widescreen resolution and it'll work.

Did that, still tries to fit itself on my main monitor ;( . Dont think this is going to work for me.
