Question on backup

I want to backup my hl2 from steam to a dvd. I went through the backup program and it said it would take about 4200MB of space to backup. The file is an .exe file that is only 2.52GB. What's going on? Thanks.

isnt that the amount of mb is in 2.52 gigs? 4200 i mean... wait no i think im just rambling
