Ragdolls in HL1:Source will NOT do!

I actually purchased this game, to see the original classic HL1 with a Source update, but I'm disappointed that the headcrabs, zombies, etc will no longer gib. Also, the Vorty's lightning attack sound seems to have been truncated - it was my favourite enemy attack in the game, but it too has been ruined.

My point is, gibbing has served FPS shooters fine ever since Quake, but I don't like the idea of a corpse of an enemy I can't break into pieces. Even Unreal Tournament 2003 had ragdoll corpses that were gibbed. Why can't HL2, or Source for that matter?
 
Source can do ragdolls that gib, Valve just chose not to include it for whatever reason. If you play the mod Dystopia, their ragdolls gib. Also, antlions sort-of gib in HL2.

Personally the non-gibbing didn't bother me all that much, particularly because it was just interesting to watch monsters and marines ragdoll all over the place instead of turning into chunks, but the downside is that certain things didn't "work" because of that...for example the egon is a weapon designed to tear things apart into tiny pieces, and obviously that won't work now. So that's kind of a downer.
But considering that HL:S is really just Half-Life with cleaner graphics and anti-aliasing, plus physics, if you really want gibs you can just go back and play regular HL. It's too bad you can't get ragdolls and gibs in the same package, though.

Also, I never noticed any difference in the vortigaunts' attack sound.
 
You can get Hi-res blood in HL: SOurce which is nice, I cant believe it, instead of the old Hl1 blood I was Able to get Fakes hi-res blood.


Here how it happened.....I thought if theres a way to get Fakefactorys Cinematic mod's Hi-Res Textures in HL: Source.....well I tried it Even though The Hi res models and most of the Metal, Wood, tile, brick textures didnt work, But I was able to get Fake's Hi-res blood in HL1: Source Which is great, but I wish I was able to get the wood, tile, Metal, and some of the decals.


Even though Its off topic, but it does pertain to Hl1: Source and I thought I might share it with you.
 
I agree, gibs are cool. I want to be able to blow a combine's head off with a shottie at close range, or blow someone's legs off with the RPG. GORE WOOHOO
 
if you could gib parts itll be cool, but unreallistic like using a gun to blow someone up is totaly un-gibbed

I agree, if they are going to use gib again they should do it realistically. It just doesn't work anymore to be able to gib an enemy with a machine gun or melee weapon like in quake for instance, it's just stupid. Only explosives, or an extremely powerful weapon like the chain gun should gib.

I would really like it if you could blow off individual chunks off a guy in HL like you could in Soldier of Fortune. That game was awesome:D .
