Ravenholm: Town Square help needed!

Not sure if this is a glich or not but after several hours, I'm completely stuck. I'm at Ravenholm: Town Square. This section begins when you step out from an alley into a street (several barrels fall from above). I've killed numerous zombies, I've pulled the lever to send the little platform out and away from the building, and I've jumped on the boxes in the grassy area and climbed on the roof. I've made my way around the wooden platforms, picking up barrels and throwing them at zombies below and I've jumped over all roofs killing the poison zombies, made my way to a metal firescape and jumped over to another metal firescape (which collapses) and climbed through the open window. From there I've thrown the saw blades down the hallway, and made my way down the stairs, into the store room, and finally up the ladder to the attic where I've killed the headcrabs waiting at the top of the ladder.Apparently, I'm supposed to be able to leave via a door in this attic area. Yes, there's a door here but it looks to be painted on the wall - it doesn't open.

I'm completely stumped what to do next. BTW, this is the level before meeting Father Grifori at the Ravenholm Graveyard.Any tips or clues would be very helpful.****

It's a trap door. It should open when you climb the ladder and push it up.

Also; what you described isn't the town square anymore. It's a roof.

Thanks, Planetary. The trapdoor above the ladder is already open. One just needs to climb up, kill a couple of head crabs and then.....well, supposedly, there is supposed to be an actual door in this attic area which leads to a balcony area from which you can continue the level.

Any other ideas? I'm open to suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong.

I had trouble here too,you need to jump onto the ladder pretty fast,so when your head hits the door it flies open

The trapdoor is already open. I have no trouble whatsoever getting up to the attic - I need to find a way out of the attic - an actual door that leads to a balcony!

ohhhh...If you move around a few boxes,you should see a door,I recommend tossing a grenade up there,just so you don't need to waste time moving all the boxes
