Red Dwarf is the most amazing TV SHOW ever , it really has to be the best tv show out , it even stands for its self still in this modern age nearly 20 years since the pilot :(

Series 8 was crap, Series 7 was a bit iffy, Everything before it is pure genius. :)

red dwarf starts off being genius in the first 6 series, but 7 and 8 are a bit repetitive. i dont hate the last two though, i just think they were lacking inspiration.

my favorite episode (i've seen every single one :P ) is the backward universe:
"hey, he just un-broke my rib"!
"here, have your tooth back!"

I think one of the writers left for 7-8. i could be wrong

and i've seen every episode several times, but i never get to see the one in 7 were rimmer leaves or was that 6? bah, i kinda got bored of the whole thing

series where rimmer left was where red dawrf lost it... but at least it gained some of its old magic when rimmer returned!

red dawrth was quality, but the last couple of series, I agree were a bit poo, I wish they would hurry up and finish the bloody movie, its been in production for EVER!

Yes, but Rimmer leaving was worth it just for that Rimmer themed ride.

Everything pre series 5 was well worth watching.

Series 1 & 2 are pure genius (excellent character comedy that at times feels like a very good play :)) - and do the books (which are also wonderful) a great justice.

It started to slowly go down hill during 3 & 4, but was still bloody good. 5 was the decline.

Everything after that was proper shite and the lowest form of comedy ....... rubbish, predictable jokes, lame, contrived situations whose only purpose were to distract the audience from the tripe they were watching. (maybe they weren't that bad - but in comparison to earlier episodes they were so poor)

Never has a series changed so much in terms of content and quality. Either way, at its best, Red Dwarf is the best show i've ever seen :)

Red Dwarf is just brilliant, but the later series just weren't good, there's no nice way of putting it. Compared to some of the shitty "comedy" that the BBC have produced since though, they still maintained a scrap of the magic. Oh, and the novels = win.

The cast have aged fairly well, which is great! Although Chris Barrie is a bit more... filled out than usual. Meh, just have Rimmer gain weight!

I still think a big budget movie (at least with the predisaster crew members, future cities and the Dwarf itself) that was closer to the books than the series screenplay would kick arse.

Can't say the same for his newly acquired dome-head.

Hats and wigs, hats and wigs... he'll go far!

And fortunately the Kryten mask is available for a certain other ;)

lol , yeh man i hope the red dwarf movie is out pretty soonish. just a quick question who is everyones fave charecter in Red Dwarf? mine has to be either Cat or Kryton :D

I'm not quite familiar with this. This is a british comedy right? For some reason this reminds me of a show i've seen when flipping on my british comedy local channel(usually on public television here in the states), and seen a comedy show that is set in a futuristic enviroment, with some really oddball characters. I never sat through an entire episode, just glanced at it in passing.
