Blu Corp was founded on the 24th of August 1926 as a soft drink production company. Its most successful products - Cobalt Cola and Electric Soda - swept over the market like a forest fire, ie, they caused untold destruction and resulted in the loss of thousands of homes. Blu Corp later branched into the alcoholic beverage market.

Red Ltd was established in the same year. A bread and pastries manufacturer, it took advantage of cheap labour in the African market by setting up its main bakeries in Somalia. The first loaves of bread were produced on the 22nd of December and when they hit American shelves in early March they resulted in multiple lawsuits for damages ranging from plague, bronchitis and tooth-loss. Red Ltd is often credited with the discovery of Penicillin.

On the 1st of April 1929, Red Ltd began a marketing campaign for its new product, the Burgundy Baguette, a type of alcoholic bread. The campaign directly focused on discrediting Blu Corp's range of beverages and had such slanderous slogans as "blu is teh sux0rz" and "blu is ghey". Blu Corp responded by introducing cola-flavoured muffins into the market. Although both products proved to be wildly unpopular, a bitter rivalry was formed.

The Second Great War proved to be a period of tremendous growth for both companies. American GIs discovered that both companies' products could be used as impromptu weapons, to great effect. A can of Blu Corp's Sugar Midnight soda, when shaken violently, becomes a power explosive device capable of sending deadly shards of aluminium well over eighty-five metres, while any one of Red Ltd's baguettes can be used as a truncheon, to lethal effect. Due to the mass purchase of these products by the United States armed forces, both companies experienced a tremendous economic boost.

Because of the financial success of both companies, they each wished to expand into new areas. Due to the advances being made in electrical technology during this period, both companies began to invest in developing communications technology. At this point the rivalry between the companies began to escalate into acts of corporate espionage and sabotage.

On the 10th of October 1947 the League of Nations issued an announcement: They were to give near-unlimited funding to the first organization that could create an efficient and economical means of launching and maintaining a global communications satellite. This was to be the spark that truly ignited the conflict between the companies. Each company began relentless infiltration, and later all-out raids of the other's facilities in order to steal or destroy the other's plans and developments. They began to intentionally build facilities almost next door to each other in order to make assaults easier. These bases were always disguised, of course, to hide what was happening from the public eye.

What were originally attempts at discrete espionage have degraded into all-out brawls between rivals armies. Each company now relentless researches military technologies and doctrines - which are, of course, then stolen by the other company - and trains large private armies specifically for this conflict.

Actual research into satellite communications technology as all but ceased and neither company realises how close Tan Inc, a breakfast-cereal manufacturer, is to completing its satellite.

He gave us a sort of "preview" of this in the Tf2 Story? thread in the mythology forum.

The Tan team is notable for their all-plastic based combat forces.
