Hello,

I was just curious about the STEAM folder size.

My steam folder is now up to 10GB. It seems to be mostly cache files or something, does it really need to be this big??

Is there anyway to clear some of the files that playing HL2 leaves behind??

E.g: 'source sounds.gcf' - 1GB, Isn't this file just a tempory sound file that allows HL2 to load quicker??
There are 8GB of these GCF files?? Is there anyway to compress, remove, edit these files to reduce steams folder size??

Thanks for any Info. :)

The GFCs are actually the data for the games, you do need them. My steam folders 15 gigs, so it sounds about right.

That's quite poor... considering other games, even much more modern ones, hardly ever take over 4gb.

I guess if I remove the stuff I don't want, it should reduce and/or remove the associated GFCs too?

which leads me onto another question... how do you uninstall stuff from steam? (delete local content?)

EDIT:
Hmm, looking at that local content stuff... HL2 is only taking a gig of space, which doesnt actually seem to bad.

I guess it's just the fact that there are lots of little extra things installed that have made up the space. Time for a spring clean me thinks...
