With all this drama around here and around 4,000 users online at this time can we do somethings to decrease server resources so the forums run faster? First, allowing only registered users to access general discussions would probably make a huge difference. Second, turning off the ability to see who is online would also cut down on the amount of processes. Third, vbulletin.org has a few cache mods out there that should decrease server load by around 10 - 20%. Only down part to this hack is the forums will have to be down for about 15 minutes while the hack is installed. Some other things that will help, turning down the amount of threads to display to 1 or 2 days for all users, this can be done with a simple mySQL query on the daysprune column (let me know if you need the code for it). You can also turn off the ability to see the members list, turn off the advanced search function, decrease amount of posts per page to 10 or 15, turning off IP banning (I know this is bad but it cuts down on queries, maybe we can do it for today only). These should help out the load time drastically, though they will get rid of some vB features.
