Registration web page wont load

I'm in the UK and bought the DVD version of Half life 2, I get to the part where it says 'visit web page for registration' and the web page wont even load.

They obviously dont have anywhere near the resources needed for this kind of online registration. I have paid for the game, I should be able to install and play it straight off.

this is bad news if other games companies start doing this kind of thing as well.

why, if i pay for the game, should i ahve to register online?

im at uni, behind a proxy. i nearly didnt even manage to get steam online, which i shudnt even ahve to do as i payd for the b*stard game.
eventually i found sum1 who managed to get steam to work - by breaking uni regulations!

even after this - it wont activate the game as they dont have enough servers. what a disorganised pile of cr*p.

I paid. i should be able to play without faffing for 2 and a half hours (and counting) for somthing i paid for.

any1 who dl's the game from warez will be able to play hassle free. without waiting for hrs because of incompetance. and if they dont have a full on internet connection - so what, they dont have to play with steam cos they didnt pay.

makes u want a console. just stick it in and play
