"Relation" betwen G-Man and Alyx

I just saw the new Orange Box preview vid on G4 (search "The Pile"). Doug Lombardi said that we'd learn more about "the G-Man and his motivations"--nothing new there--and that he would reveal there "actually is a relation between he and Alyx."

Is this the first time we've heard this?

Perhaps this is true. The first trailer does show some proof, but all gman says to her is "youre not suppose to be here. forget about all this"

Yeah my guess too. The higher echelons of the Resistance already knew about G-Man's grasp on Freeman and hired him. How they knew about it I cant say, possibly the Vortigaunts. But you can tell, because when Freeman arrives, its not like they are completely gob smacked, just a little startled. I mean its a dude who was meant to have died in Black Mesa, not seen for 20+ years, appears and who hasn't aged at all, not much shock at all.

I believe the G-Man was to give Freeman to their services but they were not told when he would return, which is why Alyx says 'funny you showing up on this day inparticular', also Kleiner had the new improved HEV suite locked up and prepared for Gordon to slip into it again, possibly given to them by the G-Man beforehand? As he did take it off him at the end of Half-Life 1. The resistance fighters aren't exactly startled either, possibly because rumours were spread from the higher echelons that the hero of Black Mesa or something would return.

Yes, that's a very plausible theory (all but confirmed by Breen's comments in the Citadel). But I thought it was strange that he referred specifically to Alyx. Perhaps it's just because she's the most recognizable character among the REsistance members, and the one most closely linked to the player character.

I still think it'd be cool if Alyx was sent to kill Gordon, or else G-Man would "dispose" of Eli.

Black Mesa and the Vortigaunts. The scientist talking to the Gman is often overlooked, as is the "The Eli Vance was our first something."
