Iron and Wine - now there's a bloke I've wanted to get into for a while. I keep seeing a huge collection of CD's in HMV and I'm always tempted to pick one up out of the blue. What would you consider his best or most accessible?
Also, This Will Destroy You need to release something new. Like... yesterday.
The only Iron and Wine cd I've listened to is The Creek Drank the Cradle, so I can't really compare to any of his other ones. That one has a lot of slow, acoustic folk music. Pretty nice, and it has "upward over the mountain" on it, which is my favorite. The songs could get kinda same-ish after a while though.
Looks like you can listen to all of The Shepherd's Dog on his myspace page. That album sounds a lot different from The Creek... seems he's gotten more people playing instruments, whereas The Creek was just him playing his guitar and singing.
As for This Will Destroy You... I might get to see them next week if I can manage to drag someone along with me.
