VALVE NARROWS HALF-LIFE 2 RELEASE DATE

The world's most anticipated game now so close we can smell the headcrabs

12:18 Exciting occurrences in the tops-turvy world of Half-Life 2's release date as Valve Software reveals that it hopes to pass on the game's master disc to Vivendi shortly, news that has had the gasping world on tenterhooks furiously hoping that the long-awaited first-person shooter sequel will arrive in September.
Speaking recently in an interview with US online press where he says that Half-Life 2 is coming along well and describes it as being "in great shape", Valve's Gabe Newell states that he anticipates that the developer will hand the finished title to Vivendi in August.

Summer 2004 is the completion date that Valve Software has stuck by since the last official delay announcement, and this latest news from Newell should finally crush any lingering fears that Half-Life 2 will suffer a further significant slip.

September is certainly highly plausible in light of the info concerning the master disc and the pen is poised to sign on the dotted line and book some serious time off. Hell, if Vivendi gets it early enough, Half-Life 2 may even arrive late August; or are we getting over-optimistic in the excitement?

But perhaps in a case of having a joke at its own expense, Valve with work with Vivendi to ensure that Half-Life 2 arrives on September 30, 2004.

I'm waiting out for HL2, and I'll probably get Doom 3 for Xbox, since Doom 3 doesn't look particuarly advanced when it comes to gameplay, so it should be ok with the Xbox controls.

Doom 3 looks like something I'll beat once, and then never touch again.

Agreed to some extent, may be quite fun for that once, would depend if any mods came out i suppose....

There is nothing about Doom 3 that appeals to me at all. If a demo is released, I might give it a go just to see what all the fuss is about but until then I'll wait for a game that tries to push the boundaries of FPS design rather then recycle it.

Doom III has already gone gold or something.

When? who said so? It's still in beta phase according to Carmack.
