I have a Radeon 9600XT 128MB but for some reason I cant' set games or my desktop resolution higher than 1024X768. I'm pretty sure my card can support higher resolutions, I think it has something to do with my monitor. If anyone has any explanations and/or solutions that would be awesome. :D

Also, can anyone link me to the lastest ATI drivers that will run HL2 the best? I dled the latest from www.ati.com, but someone told me that Catalyst 4.11 or 4.12 would be run HL2 better. Anyone have knowledge on this subject?

Yeah monitors have a max resolution they can support. So the resolution is dependant on the monitor... I have the same problem. Only solution is a new monitor i think :(

As for the drivers i don't know, sorry.

yeat that's what i figured, dammit. oh well. 1024x768 isnt that bad. thanks

My monitor maxes at 2000xwhatever it is I believe. Pretty awesome (Stuff seems REALLY small once you set it that high). I tried playing DoD with my old Gfx card (GeForce 2 MX200/400), it loaded, and I got around 5 frames before my comp froze, pretty cool! :D

Still to try with my new Radeon 9800 Pro tho.

If it's a TFT its native resolution is probably 1024x768. A CRT should be able to go above that

the 4.12s made my VST run a few fps faster... nothing major but CS:S did seem to be running faster (unless it was just placebo effect)

Did you install the new control panel they have? I believe its called the Catalyst Control Panel. If you did, UNINSTALL IT! I updated my drivers and installed the new control panel, and it wouldnt let me set my refresh rate to anything but 60 hz. After I uninstalled it, it ran perfectly. So make sure you use the old control panel.

there are beta 4.12 catalysts available(must be manually installed) as well as the current 4.11 that were released yesterday. the 4.12's cause graphical errors in places that the 4.6 do not, and the 4.11's have lost the "hitchyness" that required the "cl_smooth 0" command to be needed.

Wait for the january ATI driver for a good, polished HL2 driver.

Where do i get the 4.12's? I only see 4.11 on the ati site.

o ok, beta's. Nevermind then. Thanks :D

They are on the ATI site as well, do some digging...i'd post 'em here, but i don't think that i can.

get the omega ati drivers
go into google AND SEARCH FOR OMEGA DRIVERS
