Right wing "tea Party" tax protests are getting a little out of hand

Interesting? Sure. Does it have any relevance to the modern Republican and Democratic parties? Not in the slightest.

agreed

The Democratic Party traces its origins to the Democratic-Republican Party, founded by Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and other influential opponents of the Federalists in 1792. However, the modern Democratic party truly arose in the 1830s, with the election of Andrew Jackson. Since the division of the Republican Party in the election of 1912, it has gradually positioned itself to the left of the Republican Party on economic and social issues. Until the period following the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Democratic Party was primarily a coalition of two parties divided by region. Southern Democrats were typically given high conservative ratings by the American Conservative Union while northern Democrats were typically given very low ratings. Southern Democrats were a core bloc of the bipartisan conservative coalition that lasted through the Reagan-era.

the democrats back then were mostly conservative, whereas the republicans of that era were more liberal

[the Republican party was] Founded in Ripon, Wisconsin, in 1854 by anti-slavery expansion activists and modernizers

The reason why Democrats at the time were more "conservative" was because the large majority of them were Southern farmers. The blue-collar middle class people the party largely existed for in the first place after the pro-slave Whig party was dissolved.

Republicans at the time were the free-labor industries, rich scholars, and ideologists.

Note: I quoted conservative because frankly it was quite hypocritical for them tbh.

Conservatism and slavery don't mix in theory.

Obama might be raising taxes on the rich, but what has us up in arms is the people who live off Welfare and food stamps and whatnot, cruising around in new Escalades when they arent at home watching satellite TV on their plasma TVs, whom Obama is giving more money to.

Are you retarded? Do you know anyone who lives off food stamps and welfare? Have you seen the miserable shitholes they live in? A few years ago I stayed with a friend whose family who was on welfare. For most of the time we sat on the ratty couch of his run down house with paint peeling off the walls and fiddling with ancient appliances, trying to prepare the only cheap junk food the food stamps could pay for in the oven that barely worked. It was 110 outside degrees with no air conditioning, and I ended up with heat exhaustion, sleeping out on the porch on a flea-ridden couch to escape the sweltering, sickening heat of the run down house that was somehow 10 degrees hotter than outside. If you believe in that "welfare queen" bullshit you are completely beyond hope.
