Ripping Textures out and converting to jpg

Ok, this is a really quick question and probably one of the few times I will ever post here. Anyway..
Hammer likes to crash on me for no reason when performing ceritian actions so its hard to try and figure out how to do this.

How can your rip textures out of the game and possibly convert them to a different format? Things like a propaganda poster in the game... where can i find that texture to possibly use it in a wallpaper or something? Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Pull the VTF from source materials.gcf with GCFScape, then run it through vtf2tga and open the resultant TGA in your favorite image editor.

thanks a bunch, figured it all out thanks to your instructions. how big do you think the folder will be if i extracted every picture?
