My First Skin....
It is a "S.W.A.T. Version M4A1" :sniper:
Please give some comment?

Looks good, I guess...

And while you're at it, take their model and flip it so the ejection port, shell deflector, and the forward assist are on the right side where they're supposed to be.

Good point, the CS models have always bugged me by flipping all the stuff on all the weapons

They're meant to be left-handed, like Gooseman, they're only flipped because a long time ago a lot of people whined about having the gun on the left.

They're flipped so they can show off a few very simple animations. It's just very unrealistic to have all of the guns flipped.

(In real life they don't usually make left-handed versions of guns, only a couple guns have the parts on both sides so you can switch between right and left, or have them so they can be interchangeable (flipping the bolt on a bolt action rifle for example). Plus, some of the "right handed" guns aren't just right handed, like the M16/M4, where it has a shell deflector to prevent the ejected shells from hitting the shooter.)

its just to add a wow factor to the weapon ... people who dont know too much about guns will go like wow they actually made that ...
putting it on the right would make things boring honestly
..
this is just a re-skin right ? ....can u post the flats?

Yeah, it's the "wow, they're flipped for no good reason" factor.

Not being able to see a very simple and small animation wouldn't make the game boring, that's just rediculous.

Other then them trying to show something off (that isn't even worth showing off at all), there is no reason to have them flipped.

Well.I am going to released the Version2 of this skin because I found out that the front body of the gun should use the "blue-grey" colour, but not the light-grey colour I used in Version1...

Regardless of your derision, that is the reason for it. The vast majority of the players aren't bothered about the realism of the weapons, but are quite happy to have little visual improvements.

Fun > realism

The reason the weapons are like that is because the original modeller for cs was left handed, so he made the models that way, and there wasnt even an option to make the guns right handed. I like playing left hand personally... makes me focus on my crosshairs more than my gun.

However, the original modeller for CS didn't make the models for CS:S, so that no longer applies. It was done for purely aesthetic reasons.

...and why the name 'SWAT'?
I recently read a book about S.W.A.T. and I saw a lot of them carrying CAR-15 with light grey color front body and with dark black stock...which is totllay different from the orginal one in CS:S
So I decided to change the color of the M4A1 to this =3=
Acutully for my own uses...Since I use S.W.A.T. skin as CT

can u link us to where it says that the original modeler was left handed :S
dont want to be spreading rumours ..coz this game has been modeled and re-modeled ...twice now ...once for cz and again for css.
thank u .

I think it was done as a sort of tradition.

And I'm looking to find proof of the whole deal about the modeler... if there are any members here who played cs in beta (not css) help me out here :D

Yeah that article pretty much covers it. I thought the right handed models were added earlier than beta 6, though. Reading that history certainly brought back some memories of the early betas, too.

I'm sure the models are mirrored now just so it still looks like HL1 CS. The animations wouldn't be any less "flashy" if they were correct; pulling the charging handle isn't more boring than pulling the forward assist.

It's wrong.

I know, that's what I was saying earlier. Having the wrong animation is not any "flashier" than the correct one would be.

The animation in CS does.
lol... So was the animator high or something when he did the reloading animations? :D (For those that don't know, you're supposed to push the forward assist forward, it is there so you can manually push the bolt group forward in case of a jam. To chamber the next round, you pull the charging handle (that rectangular shaped object over the buttstock just behind the carrying handle) all the way back and let it go.)

Yeah, in real life you push the forward assist to help clear a jam, but regardless of what you do in real life, the animation in CS PULLS the forward assist, it seems like you haven't seen it or something? I don't know why Gooseman did that, I guess he didn't know how to operate an M4 and just took a guess as to what that lever on the side did, but it's been that way since the very first alpha release of CS. And I think that whoever did the CS:Source animation duplicated it to be consistent with the original, not so that it looks better. Same thing with the mirrored models. Gooseman is left handed, so are all of his models, and they were correct (aside from the animation). When the models were mirrored to be on the right side, they became incorrect. I think this was kept in CS:Source, again, to be consistent with the original, not to look better.

Looks better?? I have no clue why they haven't fixed this yet, but it'd look alot better if they animated it correctly and flipped it...or should I say do not flip it ;)
