Is Half-life 2 going to have the same save mechanism?
I wish it would have more auto saves on each segment of the game, and still be able to quick save.
Will bodies stay for a while longer than other recent games i have played(farcry painkiller), because they stayed for a long time in half-life.

Yeah, I think they're still doing the same save-style... no idea about the bodies... you do know it was an option in Far Cry right?

I don't know about the save system in HL2. I imagine they would keep it the same.

As for body counts, I doubt they will stay on the screen longer than Far Cry or Painkiller. It is a massive performance hit just to have bodies laying on the ground. I hope they find some creative way to make the bodies disappear instead of them vanishing.

In Far Cry you could change how long the bodies stayed around (I put it to 2 min, just for the realism), but I hope HL2 does it a little better than Doom 3. I know it drags down the performance, but I wished that in Doom 3 they'd have given us 10sec to admire the beautifully rendered monsters before they dissolve (or at least given us an option to say how long before they dissolve).

The best thing HL2 could do is give us the option to say how long, if at all, we want the enemies to be on screen before they dissolve (or whatever combine thingies do).

I'm pretty sure the save system will be the same as the original Half Life, why mess with a good thing? Besides, I love quick save.

I think I recall Gabe saying something along the lines of "if you're playing well and thinking ahead, you can pretty well trust [someone's name...I forget] to not make you have to go way back." I believe they're using the same save system as HL1, but I'm going on memory and I ate this funky Korean food a little while ago...things are happy now...
