The last couple of weeks everyone I know started using 'selective hearing' and 'selective memory' as an excuse to get out of things. I admit I have done so myself in the past, despite not really having any such problems, but this has gone too far. I seriously doubt the existance of these traits, and the more I think about it, the less probable it seems that anyone has said disorders.
For example, just today, when I was talking to this girl, she didn't want to answer, so she used the 'selective hearing' excuse. WTF? Selective hearing is considered a trait found strictly in males, plus, she's never shown any signs of it before.
Basically, everyone just uses this to get rid of the need to reply or do stuff you asked then to. I guess the only thing I can really do is just grind my teeth until this faze is over, but I might as well rant about it.

Sorry, selective reading means I only read your sig.

I didn't really understand it, perhaps it needs more context.

It's not a real medical disorder and nobody believes it is. It is a hilarious way of saying that the person is ignoring you because they are annoyingly not interested in anything that contradicts what they want to think (this makes a more general point about human nature!). But you can't use it as a genuine excuse. That's stupid. Hit them with your fists.

Heh only males can get it eh? Somebody must've had you going man.

Perhaps we can change it to Priority Selection; works on all levels and considers all aspects and multitude of things

Plus some people respond to different things better than others.

The Sound and Speed of your voice also determines if you get a responce out of someone

What Sulk said, and I think in normal human communication people can actually choose what they want to perceive.

I never said it exists. It's highly unlikely that it does. That just makes it far worse that people keep using it as an excuse.

it's called binaural hearing, it exists and we use it all the time to reduce unwanted resonance in a room, block out crowd noises etc. however, it's governed by what you prioritize,
so people using it as an excuse just don't like you.
