September 30th?

This may have already been explored.. if so, feel free to curse and flame and.. hell whatever you want...
but is there any chance that this September 30th release date is for steam only, and that the rest of the releases (ie boxed) will be later in the year...
it seams like a good way to make money as im sure a lot of people wouldn't be able to wait till then to get hl2.. but then wouldn't be able to do without the neat manual, and box, and whatnot.....
just a thought....
oh well.. im going to bed.....

Some stores might taking longer to ship it, but it'll definitely be on Steam and most stores by September 30th. I expect it to hit major stores like Best Buy or CompUSA.

That would be dumber than George Broussard deciding to make a game. This would not only affect Valve's sales but would turn off a lot of people who already put down reserves for the game at their local retail store. I know that Gabe isn't that stupid. The only bonus I see for Steam release-wise is if people flock to retail stores on the 30th and either they're out or its not going to get there until the next day. If they market Steam properly then people in this predicament will have the choice of subscribing and downloading the game as soon as 12:00 am rolls around on the 30th.
