Do you think that September is still a realistic date for release of the game? Valve hasn't said anything about a gold date and if that date is not annouced within the next week or 2 we might not see Half Life 2 until October. What do you all think?

/me points at sig

At this point, if everything goes smoothly, it should be here in late September. If something goes wrong or some monumental bug appears, I'd say October or November. but that's a bit pessimistic for my likings. :P

Half-Life 2 will arrive September 28, 2004.

If it went gold next week i would belive a early september date was possible. But i don't think it will :|

It could go gold in the the middle of September and still come out before October. Let's just wait and see what happens, shall we?

Wouldn't surprise me. September 30th won't happen since it's a Thursday, and most games come out on Tuesdays. So, September 28th seems reasonable, since it gives Valve time to fix problems encountered in the CS:S beta, gives plenty of time for a gold announcement, and Valve can say that the game was not delayed for a full year :hmph:

Yeah, I know. A lot of people are saying Thursdays, Saturdays, and even Sundays. But September 28th seems to be the most logical, probable, reasonable, and realistic date out there. :frog:

There's no point in letting the gamers preload the game tomorrow but let them play it like two months later, that would just be stupid. If the pre-loading actually starts tomorrow, then the game can't be mroe than maybe a month from release.

If the preload actually starts tomorrow then you might be right. That would mean that Valve has everything together and they are ready for release. However, if the preload doesn't start this week we can probably assume there is some kind of delay.

A release in 2004 would be fine to me.
Personally it wouldn't be fine for me. A year ago I would have never thought that Doom 3 would come out before HL2 did. I don't want to sound like I want them to rush the game but we have been waiting for almost a year now and Valve really needs to release this game soon.

sept 30 is the new friday the 13th for me..

if its like usual i wont get half life 2 until 2 days after its released nation wide.....my EB always has late shipments.

I think sept CAN be realistic if all falls into place. The question is: will it?

My guess is there will be a few snags (which is expected with all games at this point) and might drag it into early oct. But late sept certainly is a possibility.

It will be out sooner rather than later, so Im not too concerned after waiting a year.

It BETTER come out in September... or else... mmmm... ah f*ck it I will still buy the game when it comes out. I think Gabe knows this and he's playing us like drums. :(

shocking these delays just shocking!!

You come to expect them and ignore them after you get a year of that crap.

It's out when it's out.. Far too many speculation threads going on.. If you want to give the game/Valve a bad name, wait till it's out so you actually have something to bash.

Time is relative to the observer. To me september 30 is four years away.

That is so true. You would think that after waiting for a year it didn't matter if the game was dealyted for two or so months. But it doesn't work that way, the longer the wait is the slower time will go.

Remember the good times before March when everyone was looking to April...not many thought it would take this long

Of course a September release is unrealistic! You will be so extremely lucky to see the game in September. As I have been saying for about 6 months, the game will come out October - November.

You wanna put your money where your mouth is? $100 says the game will be out before October 1st.

Yeh because everyone here has all the facts :|

Ok here is my SPECULATION!

It starts preloading today or tommorow, i reckon they are going to give atleast 2 weeks for everyone to preload that chunk, they might make a gold anouncment in that time. But i belive mid september is probably a good bet.

Lol, are you kidding? Hahaha, half life 2 is never coming out. Just watch, it's gonna be delayed another year, lmao!

I think iamaelephant was being sarcastic. Or not...

When shmozy visited VALVe, he asked Gabe when the game was due out and Gabe replied "very soon". but that could mean anything. The fact that the preload starts today or whenever is a good indication that the game is gonna go gold soon, so it should be out mid to late september.

I would never put money on anything Valve does, they are too unpredictable. And no, I wasn't being sarcastic. October - November, like I've been saying for months.

Another smartass. You willing to bet $500 that the game will not be out a year from now? Come on, easy money. Take advantage of an overzealous fan-boy who is being brainwashed by Valve's propaganda machine. I'm sure you know better than to believe ridiculous lies that are being fed to hapless fanatics by that devious fat-man. Winning 500 bucks has never been so easy!

You contradict yourself. If they are so unpredictable, then how can you be so sure of the release date? They can release the game tomorrow, for all you know.

Half-Life 2 will come out after Fable (I think.)

I'm more excited about Fable than Half-Life 2, and I actually cried out of sheer joy when I first heard Half-Life 2 was announced. Now it's just "meh."
