Sherlock

i hear pretty good things about this. until about two weeks ago i had no idea what it was or had even heard of a adaption being made. maybe it's because i don't watch tv but i haven't seen any PR for it all. i plan on picking up on it with iplayer at some point. actually i might watch an episode before i go to bed now.

edit: just seen a promo pic and man, either they've done the make up on martin freeman really well or the guy is aging incredibly fast. he looks ****in' old, man.

The new one? The first episode was decent but the second was terrible Dr. Who shit.

The pilot was ok, not seen the second episode yet.

I'm resurrecting this thread to preach just how amazing this show is. Season 1 was great, ending with an epic cliffhanger. Season 2 was even better. Martin Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch have great chemistry and rapport. It's way smarter writing and pacing than the Robert Downey Jr. adaptations. I recommend everyone to take a look, traditional Sherlock Holmes fans will not regret it.

Yes, I know I'm sounding like an advertisement, but the show is really that good.

I enjoyed both series a lot. Aside from being funny and mostly quite clever, it's really nicely shot.

I'm sick of talking about it though, since a friend of mine is part of the rabid girly fanbase who think that any captioned Sherlock screengrab on tumblr is worth linking to.

I read Benedict Cummerbatch's avid female fanbase have been dubbed as 'Cummerbitches' (I kid you not). Perhaps you can tell her she's qualified for such an endearing title.

I enjoyed both seasons of Sherlock, the small nods to the original character were nice. I especially like the soundtrack too.

I think it's the slightly less exciting term 'Cumberbitch' and she's aware, nay, proud of falling under that (C)umbrella. Some of them are in far too deep. It taints my enjoyment ever-so-slightly, kind of like if you were to enjoy a certain TV show but you also had a friend who cosplays as a character from the show and sodomises their self with the official merch.

As for nods to the original character, I'm not too familiar with anything other than Hound of the Baskervilles, but I was interested to read that stuff like the corpse-whipping and not knowing the Earth orbits the Sun are part of the Sherlock canon from Conan Doyle.

Also I like the fact that it's basically London sightseeing porn.

If you're interested, according to IMDB the 221B Baker St. in the show is actually 168 N Gower St. The "Speedy's" cafe actually exists.

I really enjoyed it, good that they are all an hour and a half long. Too bad for the long wait in-between possible seasons.
