Shield Release Button didn't work?????

In Highway 17, I shut off the shield in the control room under the bridge, but when I got back to the railroad tracks, the shield was still in place. What did I do wrong? Is there a bug????

Sure you've deffinately turned off that right switch? its on the wall in the command room.

If you deffinately have then try reloading the level

I've never heard this glitch before, but if you have a pirated version it won't be resolvable, theres so many bugs in that version.

Well, you have to shut off the shield in the control room by pulling the plug, and the past that shield press a button on the right to deactive the shield on the bridge. You'll know it if it worked, cause a gunship comes to tell you it's not very happy about what u did.

I got my copy of HL2 at Best Buy. After I pulled the plug and supposedly shut off the shield by pushing the button on the right hand side of the control room, the ship came and I shot it down.
I did fall off on the way back to car. I don't think that should of mattered, but what do I know. I realize it's only a game, but walking those steel beams just scare the shit out of me.

I too have issues with falling from really high places in games...tense up and get that going on an elevator feeling in my gut..

Rofl, i'm freaked out by heights myself, but when I was trying to get back to the otherside underneath i ran like a mofo, bunny jumpping across multiple beams untill finaly making it to the otherside without falling

if you fell, then it would reload from the last save point, and unless you saved after pulling the plug, then you have to do it again

You are meant to drive down the track with the buggy on turbo and pull to the left side where the trains part to survive that bit by the way.

Oh and dont worry that it scared you, i remeber some guy posting here that when he was younger he was scared of heights, but hes been rock climbing for years and not felt it anymore. But when playing under the bridge on the map he was sweating like hell and his fear came back!!! Hows that for gameplay! Nice one Valve guys

If you still cant get past that bit, be a cheater and no clip through and spawn a buggy, find the commands on this site using the search button. Good luck, you have a very weird bug there.

weird, maybe you left a combine alive and he re-activated the shields....

I went back to the start of Highway 17 and I'm just coming back to the bridge again. Hopefully everything will turn out alright this time. I'll let you guys know how things work out. Thanks for all the feedback.

Yeah, its happened to me too on one of my playthroughs. I avoid saving and leaving the game during the bridge segment because of it now.
