Should Valve have stopped working on CS: Source to get HL2 out?

Should valve had put CS: Source on hold till HL2 came out?

I really think they should've waited till HL2 was out before embarking on another project, what do you guys think?

I hate to tell you, but they have been working on CS, Steam, CS:S, HL:S, TFC, VAC, TF:2 and many more since they started on HL2.

But yeah, I guess if they skipped CS HL2 would be out years ago, right?

VALVe is huge. They have probably over 50 people working on HL2, 50+ on TF2, 50+ on CS:Source.

So no, I don't think it really matters if they stopped work on CS:S to work on HL2. I think it'd maybe take a couple of weeks off of the release date, but whatever..

LOL, I think they said that there were about 80 people working for Valve, not 150 :P

But I don't think HL2 is getting any less attention at this time than CS:S, they do every seperate teams and currently the DoD and CS team are working on it according to Valve.

they shouldve released the singleplayer when it was ready, months ago. i am not interested in hl2 multiplayer AT ALL.

There are separate teams working on CS:S and HL2, any way the CS:S is only a very small delay so it has hardly halted HL2 or delayed it any more.

Just because you want Single, and not the Multi, doesn't really mean that anyone else here is like you, and want ONLY single. I for one want HL2 multiplayer.

Although it would of been nice.

--------STAY AWAY FROM THE SINGLE PLAYER WAREZ!!--------

They dont have one team working on all the mods, doh.

There just playtesting at the moment anyway, so if they stopped working on cs s it wouldnt make a blind bit of diffrence.

Your poll choices are largely incomprehensible so I didn't vote. However, I would like to say that if Counter Strike: Source is the sole reason for the present delay, I think Valve should just ship Half-Life 2 then put CS:S on Steam as a free download when it's finished.

If they intend to package CS:S with HL2 then the delay is understandable and worthwhile. If they delayed HL2 to do compatibility tests with CS:S and then proceed sell CS:S seperately, then that's equivalent to kicking the gamers in the nuts and saying 'who cares what you want'. What the heck is Steam for anyways? Add that mp crap later.

Erm, the CS source (code) is part of the SDK, HL2 is not being delayed because of CS source, its part of it.
Not to mention the fact that its shipped in the box with HL2.

i dont think cs;s in hindering hl2's release

No way, CS: Source is gonna be so sick though...

The more games get out the better. All at the same time.

Think of CS:S as a compensation for D3's MP..

CS:S and HL2 have seperate internal development teams. I don't see the connection.

Anyways, too many cooks spoil the broth. Or you can't make a baby in 1 month with 9 women.

My point is, throwing more people at a problem doesn't necessarily make it go faster.

Nah, wait, they know what theyr doing.

No, because as far as we know this is going to be HL2's multiplayer.

Valve keep up the good work. This game is going to be great value for money, i mean think about it, itll come with editing software, a single player which by all accounts is gonna be great, and CS:S, and the Source Conversions. Not to mention the extensive line of mods that are gonna get done for Source.

It'll be worth the wait.
