I don't know if theory has been considered yet, but perhaps both the Black Mesa incident and City 17 were virtual simulations, and Gordon is indeed being 'tested'. G-man would be selling your services as a super-soldier to the highest bidder. This would explain his ability to freeze time and manipulate you like he does. The more I think about this, the more it seems to make sense.

that would be the worst story ending in the history of story telling.

Or the G-Man's has his own company, and he is the leader and he is the SMARTEST MAN EVER! So that is how the G-Man is able to stop time. He knows how to do that. He knows how to teleport you. He is able to do anything at anywhere. If he wanted to, he could go back in time and play Larry Bird 1v1 and SMASH him. That is if the G-Man wanted to. He could kill MJ in bball EASILY. He would stop time while MJ was in the air, steal the ball, and then go under the basket start time, then be like, "Hey Missssssssster Jor dan.. I'veeee beeen waitinggg.." Then shoots an unguarded layup and boom. He put it in the hoop like slam!

I think the Matrix might have that high honor ;) Yeah, it would be pretty lame indeed.. but if G-man isn't a god, how can he do all that shit? :P If he's some guy that can control time, then why would he care about anything that's happening.. he'd rule everything!

Well, he is using Misssssster Freeman to fix everything so everything ends up working out for G-Man. There is no explanation to the G-Man. You will find out why and what made him pick you as the man to do the job at the end of HL3. I do not think they would make a fourth one. I cannot even see the 3rd one being any better then this one.
