Sky_box textures

I was trying to make a skybox, but I have a rather agrevating problem.. The sky shows through everything. No matter what texture the walls are on other parts of my map, I always see the sky through it.

Here's a little example so you know what I'm talking about.
I made a metal wall, then a brush outside of it, attached the skybox texture to it.. and here's what I got.

Question: Why is this doing this?
 
Use tools/toolsskybox, not the individual sky textures. Specify a sky in Map --> Map Properties.
 
hmmm... somewhow I feel that this could be used somehow different. A texture that shows up everywhere... Like a beacon or something... I must find some use for this, how riddicilous it may be.
 
There are many textures that do that.

Filter for sprites in hammer and I think all those will show through everything.
 
Only in certain render modes do they show through walls, and im not sure which.
 
I will experiment with this.... A a beacon that glows in the dark could be used in some screwy maps...
