I've been part of game communities and stuff before... but seriously.. have you ever seen so much excitement over a game with so little hype?

I mean.. sure.. halflife1 is still an extreeeemely popular game.. and that helped... but other than that... there has been almost no hype.. except E3 ..

or is it just me?

I haven't seen any posters.. no advertisements.. It just hyped it self..

damn it.. I can't wait.. eeek! :x

That's all they need, word of mouth. That's the best form of advertising.

When did they officially announce HL2? About 6 months ago?

Thats all it needed, the jaw droping e3 vid was enough to make magazine guys shite there pants.

So no need for em to reall advertise this at all, i mean with over 500 people on this forum atm, there is no shortage of people who are going to buy the game.

Thats what good with HL2 . No hype from developers ,they let the game speak for itself. Not like the shit-developers who say this and that about their new "revolutionary" game.

same thing arent they if not explain!!!

my signiture says it all

All of this excitement = hype....

yip.

why spend millions on advertising when youve got legions of ppl talking about it constantly.

it's the art of advertising, without advertising

and it's working :cheese:

no hype?? errm go watch the bink movies...no go watch the 600mb e3 movie. that will give you the hype you need. then get a pc magazine that has the 6 pages or somethin full of hl2 and read it as well as looking at the pictures. the reading part tells you about the magazine ppl able to watch the game in play and tell all about it.

Are there any Halflife2 chatrooms?....I searched for a thread on this but came up empty...I'd much rather watch flame wars in real time rather than wait on posts...

Well, the magazine articles helped too. But mainly to notify the uninformed that this game is coming and that it'll be great.

Valve are extremely clever to have managed it in this way.
