I've noticed that there is hardly any reference to Xen in HL2. Except possibly the vortigaunts, the BM survivors and Portal Storm News clippings. The headcrabs are now Bred by the combine.

At the end of HL1, the GMan stated that Xen is in control by humans, but in HL2, Xen is no more of a whisper and myth.

I know that Valve decided not to have the platform jumping elements of Xen, but they did not need take Xen out completely. This leads me to believe we may just have Xen back HL3. Perhaps using the Xen cloning facilities (The ones that produce the alien grunts in interloper) to launch an assault on the combine homeworld.

Do you think or wish Xen will have a larger purpose in the War against the Combine.

A larger purpose is highly possible since Xen acts as a focal point in which humans and combines struggles with each other, trying to gain control of the teleport technology.

I think what the G-man actaully said was, "The border world Xen is under our control ........ For the time being". Since we're still unclear who or what the G-man actually is it's impossible to say who he is reffering to when he says 'our' control.

But the combine don't need Xen, they use a different method of teleportation, they were just attracted by the inter dimensional energy that was released.

If I'm correct, there are several methods of teleportation, so yeah, it could be possible that we and them will start using different methods.

The combine is after the teleportation technology that Xen ownz, since their teleportation technology failed in the dark energy equation, (as Mossman stated) they are only able to teleport from their universe to ours, but once they're here, they have to rely on local transportations. (trains, cars, etc.) Xen would be a very important thing to the combines, for with their teleportation technology, the combines would literally be able to go anywhere with a more convenient means of transportation. That's probably the main goal of the combine before Gordon arrived. :D

I really wanted to go to xen in hl2.

God I miss hl1 but after playing hl2 I almost can't go back because the gfx are so bad.

I think Xen is neccersarry for the Combine to get to 'Earth' from 'Combine World A', Xen is also necersarry to get back and to teleport from one area of Earth to another, which is why they use local teleportation, as you can see Combine teleporters are incredibly innefficient (One Dark Energy reactor to teleport one Man.)

Combine teleporters however function much better in there own Universe (Different Universe, the laws of Physics and teleportation may be different), making it easier for them to 'tunnel' through thereby transporting the Citadels through.

The Combine are interested in Human Teleporters because they are much more efficient (one small room in Kleiners flat) and do not have to stop off at Xen (you hear Mossman say we 'swing' round and come back without ever stopping.)

There my theorys on Half Life teleportation. I think we may also see a return of Xen.

I think the whole reason Combine teleporters are so naff is because they've never discovered Xen.

I've created a quick diagram to describe my thoughts. Although a 2D image doesn't really give 10D space justice...

On the left, there's the original human method. Cut through into Xen, and then into the next universe. Much less non-reality to burrow through. On the right hand side, there's the Combine way. They're drilling all the way through, and that takes one hell of a lot of energy. Which is why it's inefficient for the Combine to teleport locally in their Universe. The boundaries between Xen and any other universe is pretty thin.

What about the Combine on Xen theorys and the Combine coming because Gordon then later the US military invaded?

As far as I know, the US military didn't invade Xen. The exploded tanks on the sand with a Xen background was merely a vision provided by the G-Man.

The Combine on Xen theories are also unprovable. There's some evidence for it, but a lot of evidence against it. Until an expansion proves either way, then it's best to assume that there's no Combine presence on Xen.

I think it's best to assume there was a Combine presence on Xen because that better supports my theorys ;)

Also didn't G-Man say that we now control the Borderworld?

I doubt he meant, the humans are in control of xen. And xen plays a massive role in the game, if it wasn't for xen, Eli and Klieners teleport would be usless.

As many have already said...

There is one thing i don't understand. First Mossman states isn't possible to teleport around the local universe using Combine tech, so how is it possible for Alyx to use the Combine teleport to get to Kleiners lab?

The only logical conclusion is that the Combine have the technology to do that, but lack the knowledge. Assuming they are probably monitoring their teleport's activity isn't Alyx actually giving away the human local teleportation secret by using that teleporter?

The Combine controled Xen through Nihilath.
Since Xen is a hierarchy, that would be possible. The Combine would only need to enslave the Nihilanth, and Xen would be theirs. No need for propaganda, or Combine structures.

But if that were the case, then wouldn't the Combine have used all of Xen's teleportation technology, rather than struggling and using a massive amount of energy to create their own portals?

Mossman gave them the tech and helped to build the Combine teleport...that was pretty obvious. :|

edit: @sfc_hoot

I believe that is what they did before the Nihlanth was "killed." The Nihlanth was what made Xen teleportation possible.

Gordon Freeman liberated Xen from it's overlord Nilhalth (the equivalent of Dr Breen) and freed the Vortigaunts the alien slaves. Therefore i doubt there will be anything more on Xen.

right, and now he's gone Xen is a free planet and nothing more to be said.

The teleporter was a design that mossman stole from Eli/Kliener. It was pretty obvious that the technology was high priority to the combine, mainly because you could ambush the resistance by going instantly to where they were hiding.

???

But g-man said in the end on hl 1 that the army invaded xen.
didnt he????
