Some explanation please

Hey guys. I kind of rushed through the game and it has been awhile since I beat HL1 so I'd like some help to piece the story together.

1) Ok, the alien that are helping humans. The ones that can zap electricity out of their hand use to be emenies right? I remember fighting them but I also remember there are some aliens getting beat up by other aliens in HL1.

2) All the alien life forms on earth, head crabs, those monster attach themselves to the ceilings, lion ants and etc. are Combine aliens? Did the combine send those headcrabs? Do those head crabs serves a purpose in their ultimate goal to take over?

3) How can the war only lasted 7 hours? If the alien technologies are so far superior how can it beat back by resistance with RPGS, machines guns and one Gordon Freeman?

4) Why did I have to prevent Breen from escaping? I could have destoryed the portal after he left. No need for him on earth.

1) You freed them by killing the Nihilanth, who was probably also a Combine. Now they fight alongside you against the oppression of the Combine.

2) After HL1, the aliens from Xen didn't just spawn in Black Mesa, but everywhere on the planet. But also suddenly, everywhere on earth in major cities, these huge citadels appeared, which spewed out Striders and Gunships. Humanity surrendered, and are now oppressed by the Combine and they protect them from the Xen aliens on Earth. The Combine do however, use the headcrabs to fight rebellion, by launching these pods into cities, filled with headcrabs.

3) But they're still getting their ass kicked by Striders and Gunships, you're the only one who was succesful against them.
And the soldiers you fight, are not combine soldiers, just humans fighting for the combine. But they're not actually combine aliens.

4) If he teleported, I think it would release all kinds of radiation and kill everyone. Or something like that.

And Earth surrendered after 7 hours because Breen arranged it that way, probably not because Earth was totally beaten - yet.
