some mod questions...

i have a question... would a source mod of anykind work as long as you have have any source game? example, lets say i have Dod:S, would a "source mod" lets say... goldeneye:Source work? what about Half-life 2 demo, would a mod work if thats all you had, or do you NEED Half life 2?

I'm pretty sure that any online Source mod AT LEAST requires HL2DM, and probably HL2 as well.

They won't work with the demo, obviously. Would be a pretty bad thing for Valve if you didn't even have to buy the game to play the mods, wouldn't it?

i guess, but why HL2: DM? well i guess that comes with ever HL2 game anyway... but it would be nice if me and my frined could play a mod together with out haveing to buy a game ( we would cuz HL2s the shit! but we're poor )

Since HL2DM is essentially free most mods use content from it, I think. But you don't have to buy HL2 to run a Source mod - any Source game will do.
