Hi. I'm new here, and I have played all four half-lifes. I just finished the second episodes, and I've got a few questions.(SPOILERS)

1. Why is it that we've never seen antlion workers before? Do they stay underground, but rise when something horrible happened to their family(killing off larvae to save Alyx)?

2. Were there any Combine elites? If so, I didn't see any. I know they were taken out of the strider/hunter fight, but did they appear at all.

3. Does anyone else find it weird that you didn't fight a gunship? To me, that is like, one of the coolest parts of the series. Now I use the RPG for quick Hunter kills( and to kill the last Strider dramatically.)

4. Does anyone find it extremely satisfying taking out your everyday anger on grubs?

5. No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why Eli!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Why!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why not Kleiner??????

6. Last question. Does anyone think that it would be cool/upsetting if Mossman is a headcrab zombie when you get to the Borealis? If Alyx kills her before realizing, she'll have another dead person who's close on her conscious.

Thanks. I'm looking forward for the next episode, which'll come out in 2020.

There were Elites, during the ambush at the inn, and on the bridge outside the mines.

Antlion workers, they seem to be mainly about tending for the young and digging tunnels with their spit, so not much reason for them to be on the surface.

I have also played all versions and episodes of Half-Life. No other game can hold a candle, or anything else to this one. That being said....

I have a feeling Eli will not be gone for good, we have seen what the Vorts can do to restore near dead humans. But that is just a guess.

Kliener seems to be more of the brains behind the Portal/Teleportation science then Eli, maybe more needed in the continuation of the game, and maybe that is why Magnusson has made his appearance, as a "replacement", as he seems to be a lot of the brains behind the science as well. I still can't figure out what Eli was actually for, other then Resistance connections.

I think Mossman has learned her lesson, is and will be very valuable in the information and spy department, after all I think she did learn a lot from Breen about the Combine. She seemed to know a lot about their technology in her dialog with Gordon in original HL2 at the lab. I think she was actually trying to persuade Breen to negotiate with the Combine to spare the remnants of the human race and when she realized he was pro Combine to the core she severed her relationship with him.

At any rate, I'm glad they didn't take out Alyx, I probably wouldn't even have played the game anymore. I was pretty worried about that when the Hunter took her down.

I'm very anxious to see what the Combine Advisors have in store, and what it will take to kill them off. EP3 is gunna be AWSOME!

I also doubt they will end the HL2 series with EP3, there will probably be a sequel named "Half-life The New Dawn" or "Half-Life 3" or something. This is a real money maker and a high demand high sales game, I don't think they will just end it there.

Just my .02 cents.

3. Perhaps Valve decided that fighting gunships with a rocket launcher *again* would be kinda redundant and instead decided to treat players with something new like with the modified helicopter battle.

4. Well, like the commentary said, I was scared to step on grubs after hearing the story about pissed off antlions. Good thing they didn't actually make the game harder that way.

5. I think it's obvious why Valve wanted to stab you in that nerve. ;)
I'm sure they know that people would rather sacrifice Kleiner. More tragedy for everyone!

@Fido: Resurrecting a sacrificed character cheapens the sacrifice in any story. That's just thematic narrative for you and the reason why some critics bitch about the "Hollywood Ending". Considering how hell bent Valve is on making HL's story a legitimate one, I bet on Eli staying dead for the sake of consistent narrative. That said, I wish Odessa Cubbage got killed. Hell, I'd put in a few extra bullets for the extra distance. XD

The story with workers seems to be that they dwell exclusively in the nests, thus we haven't seen them until now. They only surface near the end of the area because you have stolen the extract and they're very angry about it (much like how the guardian, who normally protects the eggs, decides to pursue you outside of the nest out of rage, which the vortigaunt explains)

As the Combine march on the bridge, gunships will occasionally fly overhead but you never meet one - maybe they were deployed somewhere else rather than the assault on White Forest. Another Gunship vs. RPG battle might have been a bit lame but it would have given an actual use to the RPG rather than "you can use this on hunters if you feel like it."

thanks for responding guys. Still really looking forward to episode 2. have there been any hints for the release, or at least a trailer? Anyway, could someone tell me if elites appear more on hard difficulty? Can't find any! They had the cooliest armor...

Ant-Lion colonies have Acid-Lion's that carve out alot of the tunnel network and stay underground doing who-knows-what-else for the grubs and etc. The interesting thing about Ant-Lions is that we do appear to be missing some parts of their colony setup. There's no imbetween stage from grub to adult and while we are told that a Guardian is often assigned to protect the gunk we collect it's noticable that we aren't told what assigns them.

Unless I'm confused we do fight a gunship, we throw it's bombs back at it.

Kliener is far greater than Eli, as much as I liked Eli.

3. The gunships were produced in the citadel, but since the City-17 citadel was destroyed along with City-17, so were many of the gunships, and the Overwatch are using those human-steered helicopters and dropships, to transport their troops and striders

I understand why Valve removed the soldiers and such from the final battle, but after seeing them on the bridge and knowing we were "racing" them to the Silo... it just felt half as epic, like something was missing, when only the Striders and Hunters fought. I wish they would have done them in waves, sending in the soldiers and Elites first (maybe just for the first few striders) and then the hunters and striders as you killed off the last couple.

I don't know, I can see where it would have been chaotic and difficult, but the rebels could have added the needed "direction" and balanced out the difficulty.
