Someone reskin the cs:s skins to..

.. Combine soldiers and resistance fighters,so that they go well with dreadlords radio pack.

I know it isent the models..but try and reskin them as close as possible i.e using the same colors and blue eyes etc for the combines..
 
It's quite possible, they would look decent i suppose.

Converting the player models would be a hefty task, and my animation skills are not the best.

I can attempt it, I'll post back later what i have so far.
 
Ok, after the hassle of converting vtf to tga, and back to vtf, I think i have it down.

I've been doing direct conversions, basically, taking the textures from one model to the next. and it's going mildy well. I'll post some screenshots in a few hours hopefully.

I don't expect to be done soon. It's gonna take a while. But i'll try to keep you guys updated as much as possible.

Oh, and i think using the CT models as Combine, and the T models as Resistance would look better in the long run, don't you agree?

Also, someone mentioned in my sound thread, something about "Combine-Strike"

If anyone wants to get a team together for such a mod hit me up.

Oh, and the radio texts should be changed. Looks kinda funny when sound goes "Grenade" and text goes "Fire in the hole" X3

Also, you think we can have Combine death sounds? They are the coolest EVAR!
 
OK, it appears that there are already at least 2 "Combine vs Resistance" mods being worked on. So scrap that idea lol.

Now, i will try to finish these skins, and possible some other things if there is enough demand. But quite frankly, i can barely model and animate, i can texture, but i am no coder. And being a one man mod team wont work lol.

As far as an update goes, gimme another hour or two lol.
 
Ok, i've now worked on this for a few hours straight, im too tired to do much more tonight. It's looking ok, more like a CT with strange choices of clothing rather than combine :\ lol.
 
We support you 110% man. Those radio sounds kick royal ass btw.
 
There was a guy at hl2 world that converted the arms and guns from hl2 to hls - so converting to css shouldnt be too much hassle.
 
lol, HL to HL is one thing.
CS has about a billion more animations, considering the number of weapons. I can convert HL2 weapons with Gordon's hands to CSS no prob, but player models wouldnt be easy.

Dreadlord..just do the best you can with recoloring the regular skins!
And yea,the CT will probably go better with combine... or maybe not?
Because the T´s got ski masks,so you could just add red/blue eyes and make the ski mask look like some sort of combine mask/helmet?

You got the Nova prospekt combines which would work better imo.

I hate waiting... i just hate it,its in my nature.
 
The resistance vs combine mods are going to be nothing like CS you realize. If anything they would be more similar to DoD. (They are not round based, have no buy system, etc..)

Not to mention, a good mod takes about 2 years, and these people are a very, and i mean very unorganized team, that just started, dont expect a decent release until at least 6 months from now, and at that, it prolly wont be great. Of course none of this can be sure. Another thing is that, with more than one mod team doing the same thing, there wont be "competition between mods" that people are looking for. One won't work. So i dont think relying on a CS type Mod featuring the two is definite.

Not to mention, my goal is to have a CS Client side mod, NOT a HL2 mod. Millions of ppl play CS, a lot less play other mods.

Also, i will attempt converting player models over Christmas break most likely, providing that the other classes have been released in CS:S.

Ok, now, as far as the current reskin job goes, I'm still working on it. The resistance skin is simpler than the Combine one. So i suppose using Combine as T would work better. But, resistance with helmets? i guess you guys will have to use your imagination. But the helmets can't be just useless crap.

I can put a logo on the helmet, i'm thinking of these.. let me know your opinions: Lamda, HL2, Black Mesa, or possibly anything else you guys can come up with.

I'm putting a lot of time into this right now, so i hope to have some visual updates soon, it's just that i can only do this stuff between school and work, so im limited.

Let me know any other opinions or ideas you guys have on the matter.

Go with the HL2 sign that is scattered across the sp game..or use one of the signs the resistance have as arm patches.
Yea,the T´s will most likely work best with Combines.. i hope you do the Nova prospekt ones and add that text on their back and the sign on their arm.
Could u possibly skin the first person arms aswell to match the reskins?

And dont worry about imagine... im already imagine im shooting combines thx to your great sound pack.
Someone mentioned taht the death sound should be replaced with the combine flatline sound..that would rock... maybe just replace the head shot sound with flatline sound?

Anyway... really looking forward to your reskin dread!

an update though.. the sdk AND HL2 MP is released!!!
So maybe you or others will convert the hl2 mpodels to cs:s models instead! :naughty:
 
Just play HL2Team-Deathmatch.
Then you have the original weapons, too!
 
Ok, well the SDK being released hardly matters. I was writing batch files to convert textures before, and GCFScape was working quite fine. With the Release of HL2-Deathmatch, It is just the same models..

I can continue with this, but HL2DM and the SDK won't be helpful lol. Also, i've joined VX Studios, which is making the Combine Vs Resistance mod, which is coming along well.

Anyways, I havent tried HLDM yet. If it is indeed combine vs resistance, then we'll have to see how much demand is actually left for this. I mean, i can convert HL2 weapon models no problem, just they would have a reskinned Gordon-HEV suit arm on them (Barely visible).

I need some feedback on if this is worth it to continue, there are lots of things going on right now that will greatly conflict with any purpose behind this. HL2-DM has the same idea behind it, whether or not its combine vs resis right up front. The mod will be coming out soon enough, as they already have maps done etc.. and were just waiting for the final SDK.

I got a lot done tonight, all that's left for the T, is boots, and vest, and some tweaking where necessary.
I will hopefully post some ingame shots late tonight or in the morning, but its comin along well.

If anyone wants to test the final T skin before i release it, to check for errors, drop ur email here, and ill send it to u friday.
 
K, here is a visual update. Hope to finish this tomorrow, just the vest, and some tweaking on the helmet. Lemme know what you think so far.

If enough people use these, i will *consider* making different skins for each "Class" when Valve allows us to use the 4 or 5 (if they go with the CS:CZ classes) classes.

Right now, im focused on finishing this, then whatever work i need to do for the Resistance vs Combine mod. Also, if anyone can get a good compiler/decompiler going for animations, we might be able to tweek the skeletons enough for direct ports from HL2-->CS:S/CS2.

I need more feedback on how these look. I don't know what to change/make better until you guys tell me.

Can you make those guys more look like a combine soldiers? If you can't or don't want to, that's fine with me.
 
They will look more like combine soldiers when they are finished. However, i can not model a new one from scratch in a small time period, and without the proper decompiling tools i can not edit their skeletons to allow ports from HL2 -> CS:S.

Now, if you know any quite talented animators, ask them if they can match the combine soldier's skeleton to the T from CS:S, i can write the QC (assuming thats still how its done) and make the model from there.

Otherwise, we're gonna have to stick to skins for now.

Sorry, put the file in
\Steam\SteamApps\USERNAME\counter-strike source\cstrike\materials\models\player\terror\

You'll probably have to make several of those folders ^^

I don't have models folder in materials folder, so I have to make one and inside of models folder I make player, then I make terror folder inside of player. And Finally I put the file in terror folder.

Is that it?
 
It didn't work... :(

Do I have to edit txt. file in order to play as new skin?

By the way, is there way to switch models in the game?
