Hi.
Well, I was you guys could answer some questions for me please.
1) Synths are described as "self-replicating" and biomechamical" and I always assumed the Combine made them this way. However, statements in Wikipedia etc. have made me confused: Can you please explain what a Synth is, and how it got like it is.
2) I know the Combine didn't control Xen, but the Nihilanth still confuses me. He looks to be sewn crudly togethoer and all, and looks sorta like frankinstien. Has he got any backstory from the offcial guide? Does he come from a race, or is he Synthetic?
3) What is Race-X's porpose on Earth in Op4?

Thanks guys, you proboaly get tired of hearing these lol.:smoking:

1. A synth is something along the lines of a Strider, or a gunship. Throughout their wars and conquests the Combine enslaved many races, and assimilated them into their ranks by forcing their technology onto them.

2. The Nihilanth was once, I assume, enslaved by the Combine, and in their nature they adapted him and forced their technology onto him. He escaped, and fled to Xen, as its the last safe refuge.

3. Nobody knows, it was just something flimsy Gearbox put in because they are stupid. They won't be continued. :P

Any more questions, we'll gladly answer them. Moved to Singleplayer discussion. :)

I think Samon is giving a fairly biased view on Race X. I have always assumed they were a race that got lost during the various teleportation stuff.

Re: Question No. 2

Perhaps the colonisation of the universe has already undergone like a raging fire. There are not just a single army, but several races are competing in gaining colony. Like those Earth countries did in the 19th century. The Combine is one and the Nihilanth is another one. Probably be there are even much more who takes part in the competition.

But like you said - that is just your assumption. I'm not being biased, I'm saying that nobody really knows. And we don't.

I was just making things slightly clearer for the guy who asked the question. :P

Then you went on to say

"it was just something flimsy Gearbox put in because they are stupid. They won't be continued"

Slightly biased, and comes to a firm conclusion, when in fact, you don`t know that. :p

I've explained my stand before: RaceX used Xen to teleport like humans did. They used the RC to get back the "specimens" that Black Mesa teams had collected on Xen.

Valve confirmed they won't be continued. Biased: yes. Fact: yes. ;)

First two questions was perfectly answered by Samon. But I can exlpain you third point. Ultimate goal of Race-X was colonization Earth for resources, Gene Worm is thier masssive biological factory for treatment Earth materials (like biomass, oil, rocks) for thier use...
btw I hope I'm back...

Oh, you'd better be Polaris. <3

But you are right, actually. I remember someone stating the Gene worm was infact a big-ass factory type - didn't the strat guide mention it? Either way though, they still won't be continued! :p

On Nihilanth, no-one knows who sewed him up. There are 2 main canditated: The Controllers and the Combine. I'd say controllers as sewed up doesn't seem to be the Combine style of things.
