Now. The CIA are developing their own game. They stopped because of opposition within the government. so valve took it.Now, the project is up again...and valve had to go underground. See. they didn't exactly ask permission...and a secret bunker is not a good place to try and develop a game. Alternatively, it could all be a huge conspiracy. Opinions?

Although the Source engine is obviously a huge step forward I don't think that is was an EX US-GOV project. Look at America's Army. It's a good realistic 'game' but the engine is just a rehashed version of the Unreal engine (please corrct me if I'm wrong but that's what I remeber reading). I don't think that game programmers would want to work for the GOV and I don't believe that the GOV would be able to source the neccessary expertise to create something of the quality and forsight of Source.

Alright alright bastard. If you honestly cant stand it, leave it alone. There are far more pointless threads out here and this is just a bit of fun to pass the time. Admins, close away if you really feel you must.
And Jez, probably not, but it would be funny if it was real.

Its actually the Unreal Warfare engine, a re-hashed version of the Unreal1 engine ;)

Sounds about right. Actually Unreal Warfare was an early version of Unreal 2.

I have professional experience with military IG, 2 years ago they were laughably behind the curve. In the last year things have got better (largely due to licensing existing game engines) but even now gamers would be VERY disappointed by the standard of realism, and indeed the speed of play.
