Source Upgrade and HL2 Patch Question

I've searched for answers to these two questions before posting, but I have not been able to find the answer. Perhaps somebody here knows the answers and can share them with me. Thanks in advance for any info you might have.

Source Upgrade:

I purchased the retail version of HL2 and which gives me the Bronze version of Source. I want to play DOD when it is released on Source, but I've read that requires Source Silver. How can I upgrade from Source Bronze to Source Silver?

Patch:

I've been experiencing the same stuttering problem many have already discussed in these forums. I am running a AMD 64 3500+ with 1 Gig of CAS 2 memory and two MSI 6600 GTs in SLI mode and I'm still experiencing stuttering. I've read there is patch from Valve that might resolve this issue, but for the life of me I can't find it anywhere. Can anyone tell me where I might find this patch?

DoD will be released seperately or thats what I've heard, Silver is only available for purchase online through Steam.

And for the studdering patch, there is no official one yet. I think there is one out there which is unoffical, but if I were you I wouldn't trust them, I'd wait till Valve releases an official one.

It should download automatically through Steam. If you don't have it, try running HL2 while online.
