Spoonerising

Recently I've become addicted to doing what is apparently known as "spoonerising". I've been told that I'm almost incomprehensible. This is where you switch the first letter(s) of one word with the first letter(s) of another word. Take bubbish rins, runny babbits or pet willow as examples. It's a sit bad I know, dut boes anyone else tho dis?

I've actually been doing that a lot lately, and I couldn't remember what it was called. It's also probably the only speech impediment that's name isn't affected by the condition.

HOLY CRAP! I've been doing that so much for the last 2 months!!! That's crazy! I'll hear a name or a title and i'll switch the letters around hahaha amazing!!!!!!

EDIT: Wait, do you do it on purpose because I do it fer teh lulz. Is it really a problem?

It's kind of annoying that it keeps happening so much.

EDIT: hold up, both mine and cpt's birthdays are in august. Sneaki, when's your birthday? Maybe it's an august thing.

I've never heard of spoonifying. We called them spoonerisms, and spell checker seems to agree with me.

Yeah I only do it because it's frangely strun, it's not an obsessive compulsive type thing for me.

Close, July. (sorry double post)

It's called a spoonerism in fact.
No, I rarely just spontaeneously come out with them. Perhaps I should start...night row!

That may be, but "Silly bastard" becomes "Billy sass-tard".

which sounds like you have a lisp ..and are dyslexic ;)

Know who my favourite Robin Hood character is? Friar Tuck. Man I love Friar Tuck.

Oddly enough, I do this as well. Thank god it doesn't work with my fingers, otherwise all hell would break loose.

I knew someone had just got the word "spoonerism" wrong when I looked at the title. My dad always used to spooner-ise words when I was younger so it's quite an ingrained part of the way I talk in a relaxed environment.

One of my favourite from my youth was Teasted Toecakes (Toasted Teacakes) and Emerald Scragg (Scrambled Egg).

EDIT: Just found this on Wikipedia:

Spoonerisms in Dutch are made in the same manner as in English. Examples:

* met vereende krachten ("with joined forces") → met verkrachte eenden ("with raped ducks")
* tot de dood ons scheidt ("until death do us part") → tot de schijt ons doodt ("until the shit kills us")
* ik heb het onderspit gedolven ("I suffered a defeat") → ik heb den Dolf ondergespit ("I have buried Adolf")

sometimes when writing i start with the second letter of the word...annoying at times

I thought this thread was about spooning. How you shatter my dreams, HL2.net.

My friend for years has said:
Chuck you Farley, and your whole fam damily!
