Subject: HL2 Steam and Retail...
Of course there is great advantage to valve if people
buy over steam.
With HL2 going to be such a big game, Many people have
allready Pre-ordered..
As far as i know you cannot currently pre-order on
Steam, do you intend to make this possible in the near
future?
Surely people will go pre-order on a website, meaning
less people over steam?
Also,
there are many people who are worried about this...
Example..
someone buys HL2 via steam, wants to play singleplayer
offline, because it was purchased via steam would you
need an internet connection active to play it?
What if you had internet problems? and all you wanted
to do was play offline.. many thanks for your time,
and best of luck with the HL2 release.

We're mainly concerned with figuring out the best way from the
customers
perspective to deliver the game. That's what matters the most in the long run. Steam is a tool which will hopefully give us a better way of handling things like distribution, updates, support, billing, information, etc...
The issue of interrupted or disconnected play is addressed in Steam.
You have a period which can be tuned during which you can play regardless
of your Internet connection.
