We're happy that the recently released Counter-Strike: Source maps de_inferno and de_port have been so well received, and along those lines it's time to start talking about what's coming next. This week, we have a couple of screenshots from the remake of the classic Counter-Strike map de_assault, which is now set in downtown Chicago.

We always like to keep everyone abreast of the games the MOD community is working on, so he's a list of a few we're keeping our eye on:

Plan of Attack, Pirates, Vikings, and Knights 2, Sven Co-Op 2, Sourceball, and Dystopia

All of these projects are at varying stages of development, ranging from the concept phase to having a playable game ready for you to download from their site. It's cool to follow a MOD team from their initial concept through the eventual release, as you generally get to see a side of game development that is somewhat hidden with traditional game development companies.

Very...very nice...

Go Valve? Yesh.

I love the new look of cs_assult. I always liked the map and cant wait for its release. Also I think it is great that valve shows us mods that they like as it is free publicity and lets people know about mods they might not know of. I like the idea of helping out the little guys.

Interesting that they're basing cs_assault off of a real life location, and not some amalgam of locations (de_dust) or made up location (cs_office)

I hope they designed a better balance though..Because we all know how un-evenly balanced assault is!...

They said it was set in Chicago, not based on an actual building. Although I do bet their artists have done their homework.

Glad to see a mod that I enjoy ALOT is on their watch list. Maybe this will get other people to try it out since it was mentioned on Update...

Yeah right D:

Looks good. Wonder if you'll be able to snipe through those windows? If so that would be really useful for CT and T alike. Unless of course from inside the warehouse it remained incredibly bright outside. Then it would be unfair. But at least its pretty :D

omg ASSAULT !!!
I LOVE THIS MAP ! WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
THANKS VALVE !

Turtlerock Studios is the company that made the CS:S map ports of de_inferno, de_train, de_prodigy, de_tides, and cs_office.

They also worked on CS : CZ, CS for Xbox, and the official CS bot.

I got a homemade version of backalley the other day - lots of pink textures but it was cool :)

edit: im still a wee bit drunk
