In case you hadn't noticed, the steam forums and Steam itself are shutting down. This was mentioned at the site. They are currently getting some hardware upgrade. It should be ready at about 11:00(I think it was 10:00)

Funny you can't play the one player stuff either... hope we it won't be this way for HL2. I also suppose this plays heck for modem users, need to connect just to play...

Otherwise Steam rocks for me.
