steam ticket expired - wtf?

i've had this today along with a request to re-enter my steam password, which i have done several times now (i.e. whenever i click on the SDK). (and when it finally does accept the password it's telling me the servers are busy ffs...)

what's going on?

Odd problem. Happens to me sometimes when I try to join a server, probably buggy software downloaded from a corrupted main server.

Try deleting the "clientregistry.blob" in the Steam folder and if that doesn't work, the "platform.gcf" file in the steamapps folder. (Make a backup of both before continueing, though)
Just close Steam, delete the file(s) and restart Steam.

it seems ok now. only done it once or twice, last night. i wasn't trying to join a game though, just get the latest updates
