ok i dunno if this is in the right forum cos it seems that the steam help forum has gone "walkies" so if the mods could do me a favour by moving this nd ill edit it at the right place,

so what's the problem?

the problem is that i got an update for steam last night and now i cant connect to the fu**ing network, it says "steam-warning, steam is having trouble connecting to the steam network"

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

has this happened to anybody else?!

if so HOW FOR THE LOVE OF MY MAPMAKING CAN I FIX IT?

Try moving 'platform.gcf' to another directory and it should get replaced once you connect to steam. It worked for me the last time I could not connect.

If it does connect, just delete the old file.

Have you been on the steampowered forums to check to see what your error means? Try the fixes there. And i dont believe you will need to download HL2 again, you could just remove your game content from your email folder then Copy n Paste it back in after installation, but thats pointless...And and lastly stay calm and dont get angry, it will cloud your vision, think straight.

dude nothing on there is related to my prob, what is the point in waiting? it will not get fixe by waiting because you prob mean wait for an update yes? how can it update if it cant even f***ing connect to the steam servers?

i apologise as its not your fault in any way its just that i have a mapping project going and this is really starting to get to me

I really need sleep, but if you have Xfire installed remove it. Think of any other changes you've made to your system recently also. Maybe that spooky map is too damn spooky for the steam servers? Keep looking around. I mean wait as in the login server may be playing up valves end so you cant connect. Sometimes its not your end with the problem. Goodnight.
