Ok so my dad plays CS:S alot (lol) and I like to play steam games every now and then. He lives at his home while I live by myself in my apartment. Usually when I want to play, its real late at night and I have no idea if hes playing his game or if hes asleep, so of course I can't just call him up to ask him if hes logged in.

I don't want to kick him off his game! But steam doesn't seem to have any notice feature to let me know if I'm kicking him off as I'm logging in.

The only thing I've noticed is sometimes it will ask me for my password even though it was supposed to remember it... could this be a sign that hes logged in already? Or maybe that he has logged in since I was last on?? Help!

I think, like (AOL), Steam logging works the same. Allowing one member to log-in at a time. If some one is already logged-in, in any given account, no other person can log-in. Steam supposedly tells you, your account is already in-use by another person, or something similar to that.

Wait for more responses to confirm my theory.

Good Luck.

Hmm... I thought that your Steam Ticket would become invalid (effectively kicking you out of any multiplayer game you might have been playing) if you logged in somewhere else, but about singleplayer I dunno.

Test it over the phone with him one night.

Alternatively, just buy another steam account with CSS for him.. it'd make a nice present

Yeah you can get the retail HL2DM-CS:S-DoD:S pack for like 30$ I think, and otherwise you can always just get him a Steam account with only CS:S on it, just buy it online through the Steam Store:
Counter-Strike : Source Only Online
HL2DM-CS:S-DoD:S Pack Online
