Hello! Sorry, i'm not sure where i should put this.
Cutting a long story short, it seems that whenever i open a game that utilizes the Source 2007 engine (Gmod 10, Episode 2, Portal, etc), after a long loading time, the game spends literally around 4 to 5 minutes running incredibly slowly (about a frame every two seconds). This happens regardless of whether i stay on the menu screen or go into the game. After this 4 to 5 minutes, however, the game runs perfectly like usual. I tested HL2 (which is on the standard Source engine) and it works fine straight off.
This has me stumped, and i don't like waiting 5 minutes every time to play the Source 2007 games T_T.
AMD Sempron 2800+ 1.6GHz
1GB RAM
nVidia GeForce 7600GT / 91.47 Forceware
I recently upgraded my card to a 7600GT and installed the latest drivers from nVidia, but due to some random game crashes i installed the 91.47 forceware instead. Not only did this stop the crashing, but it gave me greatly increased performance compared to the 167 drivers.
Any help will be greatly appreciated, and if this is in the wrong forum please move it and hit me with a ruler or something!
Thanks.
