Is a bacteria that infects a body, like tetanus, or so i'm told.

a friend of mine got it, and he has some symptoms. His skin around his ankle area is a reddish-purple color and he feels like it is torn apart every time he touches it. That happened to one of his ass cheeks too. Ouch. His throat hurts and he seems like he's weak and can't do much.

He says that the infection can reach the kidneys or the heart, but he's now in a 6 month painful treatment (penicillin) which will supposedly prevent that from happening.

My question is, has anyone been affected by streptococcus and has it been as serious as it seems? Do the affected areas get better or do they... fall off? :bounce:

Sounds more like Staph. If I'm not mistaken, Streptococcus is what causes strep throat. I think that sounds more like the culprit is Staphococcus.

...does your friend bathe regularly? Change the sheets on his bed on a regular basis?

i have no idea. the guy is pretty clean.

I'm not sure if it's streptococcus, because estreptococo is the word in spanish most similar in spelling for streptococcus...

What you're describing sounds like a staph infection...staph is a bacteria that infects the outer body.

And when it gets really bad, his right index finger will fall off, and he will never again play shooter games.......

My aunt was told by doctors it was definatley going to kill her, she just barely escaped it with her life she had the "A" variation I believe

And when it gets really bad, his right index finger will fall off, and he will never again play shooter games.......

that was especially nasty!

I got it in my ear a long time ago..alot of yellow goo\liquid\slime came out of my ear during that period :D

Does he wrestle? There was a story in the states of a wrestling team taking it to a regional match. There they gave it to other teams. I hear it's a very nasty thing to get. Now there are lawsuits flying around etc. Good luck to your friend. BTW, strep doesn't always mean strep throat. You can get strep outside of your body too.
