stuck in anticitizen one

hey im stuck and need help please. im at the part where i leave alyx to get to the other side of the canal. i entered a room with alot of combine's i killed them all and even the white stormtrooper(first time ive fought them) looking ones then i jumped on the lift and went up and on to the pipes. now i cant figure out where in the hell to go. there are walkways everywhere but i cant access any of them. i would love some help. thanks alot!
