stuck in combine building

could someone help me out? Breen just made his second speech on the TV screen. There are two ways I can take one hallway has one of those blue force fields and the othere has a railing. Past the railing is a is a beam of some kind. I can't get over there because I can't jump can some one tell me what to do

Im not quite sure where you are in the combine, but I seem to recall a couple of times where I either had to turn off the force field by unplugging it with my grav gun or turning off a force field by pulling out the balls of energy in the generator, you know, the balls that bounce up and down in the generator.

this part took me forever to do, but if you get close to the left side of the fence try climbing up the little metal things that seemed to work and let me get past that point

This (loss of jump ability) is a nasty bug in the game. Try reloading from a point where you still can jump, like from before the "coffin" ride.
