Stuck in follow freeman, help please

Ive rescued the dude on the rooftop from the snipers, and he has led me downstairs to a large metal gate but i cant figure out what to do next. Please help

When you say dude, I assume you mean Barney.

If thats the case then he should open the metal gate for you.
