I currently have Stuffit Standard running on my PC as my method of opening zip files. The other day while zip files I started getting a very strange error. Whenever I begin to download a zip file, 2 files appear as downloading on my desktop. If I allow my computer to finish a download, the two files are useless.

I have enclosed a picture demonstrating the problem. The first attached pic is what zip files normally do, and the second pic is what is actually happening. Does anyone have any idea what is happening? I have no way to download these files :(

Use a different program, WinAce is very good, as is Winzip.

I previously had Winzip, but I reformatted recently and can't find the installation disk. I'm using a Dell machine, and can't find Winzip on any of the reinstallation disks. Do I have to pay for it again?

EDIT: Looks like I was using a preview version of StuffIt (oops :P) which probably explains why it stopped working.

EDIT: I downloaded a preview version of Winzip, and the problem is still happening. Should I reinstall Firefox?

Uninstall StuffIt, and Winzip, try Winace, it is free.

if that doesn't work, yes you could try reinstalling Firefox.

I've uninstalled StuffIt, installed Winzip, and reinstalled Firefox, and I am still receiving files in two parts.

When trying to download Sven Co-op from Fileshack, for example, I begin the download then end up with two files on my desktop. The first file is named "svencoop30full" and does not have any content being downloaded into it. The second file is named "svencoop30full.exe" and describes itself as a "PART" file in its properties.

When I view the properties of the first file, I get a strange amount of options (pic attached.)

Does anyone have any idea what is going on?
