Stuttering and Hiccups back in Aftermath?

i would hope valve will get the stuttering bug fixed by the time aftermath is released.

all the problems ppl are having bemuse me because i run the game on an athlon XP 1800+, radeon 9550 128mb and 512mb ram and only get issues when the action hots up intensely on screen, which i expect with the processor im running on.

when i get myself a new computer in the next 6 months or so, i hope i wont b playin HL2 and its counterparts worse than i do currently because of the stuttering bug.

yeah i hope its gone too, i have a pretty good comp, 3.2ghz p4, gig of ddr2 ram, x800xt and it really is frustrating to get it, it hasnt been fixed no matter what valve say.

good link btw.

I have fixed 80% of my stuttering by closing every process on the background, crucially, the Norton ones (by alt control del) and not installing SP2. It's more enjoyable than fustrating now, you can be sure it works.

Yea I have next to no stuttering anymore because I made various tweaks that I found and believe me if anyones system should have stuttering problems it's mine :)

I found the main thing that help was getting rid of the autosave.......though it can be a pain when you forget to save for an hour or so and die

I didnt know Stuttering was a problem in half life.. even tho the G-man cant talk properaly :P  anyway I didnt know This was a problem :bounce:

Yeah... disabling the autosaves helped me a lot... and adding "-rate 85; -mat_forcemanagedtextureintohardware 0; +map_backgroundnone; -cl_forcepreload 1; -sv_forcepreload 1; -snd_mixahead 0.2" to the Launch Options Tough.

I had an extremely bad studder problem and long load times in HL2. I solved the problem by disabling a lot of unneccesary programs at startup, clearing a lot of space from my HD, and defragging the hard drive. Hope this helps.

It won't be fixed unless they re-write the engine from scratch, which they're not doing.

I never had stuttering problems with Half-Life 2, and my comp isn't even any near to mid-end :P I run the game at max details in 800x600 under WinXP and it runs pretty well :P Shutting down all background applications, including explorer.exe helps a lot.

Stuttering is caused by the user ramping up there settings when there computer cant handle it.

Dont blame Valve for your own stupidity.

Don't be an idiot.
You're telling me that an AMD 64 bit Athlon 2800+, 1 GB of RAM, and a Geforce 6800 couldn't handle Half Life 2 on max settings?
That's what my computer was when I played it the first, second, and third times, and each time I experienced stuttering. I even turned all the graphics to minimum, stuttering continued.

no it isn't (well, there are bound to be idiots out there, but there the exception I like to think).
I play with the reccomended settings, and it still stutters sometimes.

New computer soon though :) .
